The unique wildlife of southern Africa makes the area one of the world’s most spectacular places to visit and Springbok Casino is celebrating this irreplaceable resource via a special page that pays tribute to those that have helped protect and support fragile animal populations threatened by poaching and habitat loss.

The online casino’s new Heroes page features a collection of YouTube videos that profile heroic efforts including one of a truck driver in Botswana that rescued a thirsty orphaned baby elephant by delivering 30 litres of water. There is also a video profiling the Black Mambas, which is a group of unarmed women that risk their lives to dismantle poachers’ snares in South Africa’s Kruger National Park, alongside one that follows rescuers from The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust as they save a baby hippopotamus.

“I just think we have to be constantly aware of our natural heritage,” said Daniel Van Wyk from Springbok Casino.

“The more we know about our country’s magnificent animals the more we appreciate them. When we’ve done tributes like this for dolphins or rhinos we’ve had a lot of positive feedback from players.”
