If the closest you've come to French/Japanese animation is a bleary-eyed Saturday morning session of Digimon on TV with the kids, then you may not know some of the country's many other offerings.

Of course, elsewhere in the world we get the cherry-picked goodies from the multi-billion dollar French animated TV market, so you may have missed the latest export - Kobushi.

Billed as a fun-filled animated TV series, Kobushi features a cast of loveable characters who all work in a Japanese restaurant.

The programme follows the adventures of Sushi, Maki and Temaki, who all come to life in the restaurant kitchen after closing time. Their mission - other than providing cute thrills for the kids - is to avoid the hungry advances of the restaurant's Oriental porcelain cat.

ANYONE FOR SUSHI?
If you've played any of the online games from leading 3D developer, iSoftBet, you'll know they like their big-name tie-ins. Movie slots spin-offs like Rambo and Basic Instinct rub shoulders in casino lobbies with animated film tie-ins like Rango.

And then, of course, there are the crazy out-there bonkersness of games like Ninja Chef and the excellent espionage thriller-based slot, Ladybug. Kobushi is designed by renowned French animation studio Zagtoon - the makers of 7 Cs, Superstar, and yes, Ladybug, which started out as an animated TV series too.

As you'd expect, then, the five reels in this 30-payline game are packed with stunningly-drawn symbols: the main characters from the game are all present and correct, backed up by three sushi icons, a Koi carp, and some Oriental-styled Jack-to-Ace symbols.

BONZAI BONUSES
The game's Wild is the bandana'd Sushi, and he substitutes for all symbols in the game other than the Scatter and Bonus. He also launches into a nice little animated Karate routine when he forms a winning combo. The red sushi is a Scatter and pays anywhere it falls on the reels.

Landing three or more of the Cat Bonus symbols anywhere on the reels will activate the Big Cat Bonus Round. Select from a row of dishes to determine number of spins, one of the rice baskets to decide your multiplier, then a final choice of symbols to determine an extra Wild that will be added to the reels during your free spins. If any Wild lands on the middle reel during free spins it will expand to fill the entire reel, giving you a better chance of big wins.

KOBUSHI JACKPOTS ALL ROUND
Players can win up to 15,000 coins or a progressive jackpot if they play at the maximum bet in the game's other bonus feature.

Three or more Kobushi Bonus symbols landing anywhere will trigger a Pick Me Bonus round where players get to choose as many hidden prizes as they can from a 3 x 5 grid of hidden symbols before that dozy porcelain cat makes an appearance.

There are actually two progressive jackpots up for grabs here: the Sushi Jackpot, and the much larger Kobushi Jackpot.
